Overview
The Facility Management Module addresses the requirements for promoting a safe and secure environment in the ambulatory surgery center. The goal of this module is to explain the ASC administrator’s role in promoting a healthy, safe, and secure workplace.
The six components of an effective facility safety plan are explained including the requirements of regulatory bodies and accrediting agencies. Fire safety, hazardous material, medical first-aid, infection prevention, and medical equipment management are covered. Emergency preparedness information, for a variety of natural and man-made disasters, is also included.
Outcomes
- Identify federal and state agencies and accreditation organizations that affect facility management.
- Discuss requirements of the National Fire Protection Agency’s (NFPA) Life Safety Code.
- Describe the information required in an emergency preparedness plan.
