Purpose
The purpose of this activity is to provide the learner with knowledge of best practices related to surgical skin antisepsis and prepping.

Overview 
This module will help the surgical team understand and implement the AORN “Guideline on patient skin antisepsis”. The module discusses the importance of removing soil and transient microorganisms from the skin and the use of evidence-based practices in skin antisepsis prior to the surgical procedure. Topics include preoperative bathing and hair removal, skin antisepsis techniques and selection, handling, storing, and disposing of antiseptics. This module includes a Power Point presentation; an interactive educational game; podcast; a case study; an AORN Journal article and Quick View.
