The purpose of this activity is to provide the learner with knowledge specific to implementing recommendations from the AORN “Guideline for Team Communication”.
Overview
This module will help the surgical team understand and implement the AORN “Guideline for team communication”. The causes of ineffective communication in the OR are discussed including guidance on standardized communication processes, the use of the AORN Comprehensive Surgical Checklist and the different phases during which team communication about patient care should occur. This module includes a Power Point presentation; an interactive educational game; podcast; a case study; an AORN Journal article and Quick View.
Outcomes
- Identify causes of ineffective communication in the OR
