Overview:
This COVID-19 Clinical Update panel discussion will address frequently asked questions submitted by perioperative nurses caring for COVID-19 patients. This week’s discussion will focus on developing a protocol for COVID-19 patients undergoing surgery, updates on reprocessing N95s, and evaluation criteria for selection of respiratory protection.
Outcome:
Upon completion of the session Perioperative RNs will have knowledge of a protocol for COVID-19 patients undergoing surgery, updates on reprocessing N95s, and evaluation criteria for selection of respiratory protection.
Outcomes:
- Discuss the components and associated rationale within a protocol for COVID-19 patients undergoing surgery.
- Identify new FDA Emergency Use Authorization for decontamination of N95s during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Recognize critical factors for selecting the best available respiratory protection.
