This webinar reflects the newest edition of the AORN Guideline. There is a webinar for every new or updated Guideline that is released.
Overview:
The rapidly changing health care environment presents perioperative personnel with continual challenges in the form of newly recognized pathogens and well-known microorganisms that have become more resistant to today’s therapeutic modalities. Protecting patients and personnel from transmission of potentially infectious agents continues to be a primary focus for perioperative RNs. This webinar will review the recently updated AORN Guideline for Transmission-Based Precautions (formerly titled “Prevention of Transmissible Infections”), which provides evidence-based guidance for nursing practice.
Outcomes:
• Describe recent revisions in the AORN Guideline for Transmission-Based Precautions.
• Explain how to select and correctly use personal protective equipment to prevent transmission of infectious pathogens.
• Learn to safely care for surgical patients who require contact, droplet, and airborne precautions while minimizing risks to health care workers and other patients.
