Overview: 

This townhall panel discussion will address key leadership challenges from perioperative nurse leaders currently dealing with COVID 19 patient care surges.  These themes were solicited in a survey asking for current concerns and practices in the perioperative settings.  Topics that will be covered will be current use of operating rooms during a time of no elective surgery, addressing staffing challenges and hospital wide needs, and best practices of communication and morale during stressful working conditions.

Perioperative RN leaders will learn how three facilities are using; operating rooms during a time of no elective surgery, perioperative staffing challenges and hospital wide needs, best practices of communication and morale during stressful working conditions.
 
Outcomes:
  1. Identify best use of OR’s for COVID-19 surgical patients.
  2. Identify plans for deploying staff while elective surgery cancelled and education, communication needs.
  3. Discuss strategies to manage own self care and staff morale.
