Outcome
The learner will have the knowledge and confidence to implement the evidence-based practices and recommendations from the AORN Guideline for Hand Hygiene, including; fingernail, hand, and skin conditions; jewelry; hand hygiene; surgical hand antisepsis; evaluation and selection of hand hygiene and surgical hand antisepsis products; and quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Objectives
Upon completion of this module, the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the importance of skin condition as it relates to performing hand hygiene in the perioperative setting.
- Identify critical factors for proper performance of hand hygiene and surgical hand antisepsis.
- Identify evidence-based practices for hand hygiene and surgical hand antisepsis.
- Identify key considerations in the evaluation of products used for hand hygiene and surgical hand antisepsis.
