Outcome
The learner will have the knowledge and confidence to prepare when there is a family or patient history of MH, or respond to a patient Malignant Hyperthermia Crisis by understanding the pathophysiology of MH, the demographic factors, key signs and symptoms, differentiating the formulation of dantrolene sodium, methods of treating MH crisis, patient care interventions post-acute phase, preparation of surgical services in the case of MH crisis, and knowledge of resources available for support.

- Identify demographic factors regarding MH.
- Discuss the pathophysiology of MH.
- Identify the key signs and symptoms of MH.
- Identify steps facilities should take to prepare for an MH crisis.
- Differentiate the formulations of dantrolene sodium.
- Identify methods of treating a patient during an acute MH crisis.
- Describe patient care interventions in the post-acute phase of an MH crisis.
- Identify guidelines for patient and family testing regarding MH.
