This presentation will cover the updated changes in the 2019 edition of the Guideline for Sterile Technique. Presentation content will review new and revised recommendations. Two key concept changes involving air contamination and event-related sterility will be explored.

- Describe two of the new practice changes in the 2019 update of the AORN Guideline for Sterile Technique.
- Discuss why instrument tables should be kept within the unidirectional ultra clean air delivery system when possible.
- Differentiate between table covering for procedural delays and covering portions of sterile tables that are in use.
